Bakogianni Sofia

Sofia Bakogianni was born in 1984, in Athens, Greece. In 2007, she received the Diploma Engineer in Electrical and Computer Engineering from National Technical University of Athens, Greece.  In 2010, she obtained the MSc degree in Microelectronics and Optoelectronics from the Department of Physics (School of Sciences and Engineering), University of Crete (UOC). In 2012, Sofia joined the Laboratory of Electrotechnics (Microwave Communication Group), Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Patras, Greece, where she is currently studying towards her Ph.D thesis.

In 2008-2010, she joined Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser (IESL) – Foundation of Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH), as a postgraduate researcher, and she worked on the applications of electronic and optical devices in Biophotonics Technology. She was, also, laboratory assistant in Electromagnetism Laboratory and Computer Engineering Laboratory (UOC). She was the recipient of a two-year MSc Scholarship from IESL-FORTH and a one-year scholarship from UOC. Since October 2012, she is working as a Ph.D researcher in the research project entitled “Multilevel assessment on biological effects of radiofrequency electromagnetic waves (mbioRF) and she is laboratory assistant in Wireless Communications Laboratory (Division of Telecommunications and Information Technology). She is recipient of a three-year scholarship from the research funding program “THALES”.

Her research interests include Applied Computational Electromagnetics, Bioelectromagnetics, E/M dosimetry and Antenna Theory. She has authored/co-authored 2 papers in journals and international conferences.
